Scroll
Scroll is a layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum that takes advantage of zk-rollups (zero-knowledge rollups) to scale the network and offer lower fees while maintaining high levels of decentralization and security. By processing data off-chain and posting it on-chain this protocol enables high transaction throughput while allowing Ethereum to scale without abandoning its decentralized nature.
Project Goals and Objectives
The aim of Scroll is to make Ethereum more scalable through the usage of zero knowledge rollups so that transactions perform better and are cheaper, all while keeping high security and decentralization. The project aims for a smooth user experience, compatibility with Ethereum’s existing infrastructure and support for dApp’s in order to facilitate faster and cheaper blockchain transactions.
Tokenomics
It can also be used to stake the native token SCR, which serves an important function within the Scroll ecosystem. Its main functions are for transaction fees payment, staking and governance participation. The tokenomics is structured to incentivize scroll participants and achieve sustainable growth for Scroll. This utility of SCR ensures that both users and validators are compensated for their role in making the platform successful and developing it.
ICO Information
The project also had an initial coin offering (ICO) to raise funds for development, as well as ecosystem expansion. The project saw technological progress as a result of the ICO which managed to raise $80 million and get a valuation of $1.8 billion. Helping to build Scroll’s infrastructure, the team was able to grow and market Scroll into the Ethereum ecosystem further and be adopted by new ecosystems within the space.
Technology Features
Scroll does it all using strongly tuned zero knowledge rollups (zk-rollups), which dramatically improve scalability and amortize transaction costs. Its compatible with smart contracts on Ethereum so that developers could quickly build decentralized applications (dApps) dApps on the platform. Security and efficiency in decentralized operation is ensured by the architecture based on three layers: settlement, sequencing and proving.
Team and Leadership
The team over at Scroll, consists of blockchain aficionados and technology experts dedicated to scaling Ethereum’s network. Its leadership is about developing blockchain decentralized solutions to streamline block performance. But they want to bring Ethereum mainstream and keep it relevant, with a combined knowledge to satisfy the growing need for blockchain technology.
Roadmap
A key milestone according to Scroll's roadmap is to launch zkEVM mainnet. The roadmap contains various clarifications of enhancements to the offering to accelerate scalability, security and user experience. Future growth includes further development of the platform’s infrastructure and enhancements to platform features geared towards further increasing the functionality and efficiency of Scroll for its users.
